AOKP Ice Cream Sandwich on Motorola Droid 4 XT894

Motorola Droid 4 XT894 is now on spotlight because this time we had brought Ice cream sandwich based ROM for the device. And it is AOKP ROM which has customization options plus greater speed & performance. All thanks to XDA developer’s member Hashcode who is reported to port the AOKP ROM to the Droid 4. There are certain bugs and issues that are hopefully be solved soon.

Pre-Requisites:

1. Rooted Motorola Droid 4 XT894 should have Safestrap Recovery installed
2. Computer
3. USB cable
4. Keep backups of all data separately before flashing your device.
5. The battery power of the Motorola phone must be 60% at least, so that it keeps the device active all through the process.

Steps to install AOKP Ice Cream Sandwich on Motorola Droid 4 XT894

Step 1: Download AOKP ROM for your Droid 4.
Step 2: Download Google Apps package (GApps).
Step 3: Now, copy the two ZIP file into the root of your phones external SD card.
Step 4: Switch off your phone and then switch it back.
Step 5: If you see the splash screen then press the Menu Button several times to boot the device into Recovery mode.
Step 6: In the Recovery Mode press the Volume Keys to navigate and select by pressing the Power button.
Step 7: Make a Nandroid back up for existing ROM through Backup and Restore-> Backup.
Step 8: Now wipe out the phone data as follows:

Select wipe data/factory reset->Confirm
Select wipe cache->Confirm
Select advanced in main menu-> Wipe Dalvik Cache-> Confirm

Step 9: Go back to main recovery menu and select install zip from  SD card-> choose zip from SD card and then select  copied AOKP ROM file-> Confirm.
Step 10: Now flash the Google Apps package that you downloaded in step 2.
Step 11: Select Go back->Reboot system now.
Step 12: Reboot into new ROM and set up your Google account. If your previous ROM was based on Gingerbread do not check the option to restore your apps and settings.

Your Motorola Droid 4 XT894 successfully installed with to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (AOKA ROM).
