How to Root & UnRoot SONY Tablet P

Sony Tablet P can now be rooted just with some simple instructions. This article will guide you with the entire process which will allow you to root the device. You will see many custom ROM firmwares along with the applications which need root access can be made use of. Essential Pre-Requisites:
  • Backup all the data present in your SONY TABLET P as there is a possibility that the data present in the phone may get lost or corrupted. With the help of below mentioned steps you can easily backup / restore the data.

Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore

  • Charge left in your device should be a minimum of 60% so that your phone doesn’t give up in the middle of firmware update.
  • Turn Off all the antivirus as well as Firewall tools in your computer as these tools tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.

  • Next up you need to check whether the drivers have installed correctly or not. Go to the “Device Manager” and connect your Sony Tablet P with the computer and under the “Portable Devices” you should see “Sony Tablet P”. Right click on the same and select “Update Device software”.
  • Select “Browse Computer” > “Let you pick from a list” > “Hard Disk …”. Now you need to navigate to the ADB driver folder which is there in the extracted Zip file “android_winusb”. After this, from the four files, select “Android Composite ADB Interface”.

  • Just in a rare case if the device drivers doesn’t get install properly, you need to right click on the “Sony Tablet P” in the Windows Explorer and select “Disable” after which you need to again enable the same by right clicking.

  • Now, remove the connected USB cable and enable the USB Debugging. Now, enable the USB Debugging in your phone which you can do from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.

  • Now, you need to extract the Zip file “SonyTablet [ALLinONE] v1.1” and from the extracted files, open the “SonyTablet.bat” and all you need to do is to follow the on screen instructions as shown in the below screen capture. To root and unroot all you need to do is to just follow the instructions mentioned in the on screen command prompt screen.

  • Once the device is rooted successfully, you will see that the device will be rebooting several times. After the device boots up, you need to check in the applications list an app called “superuser”. If this app is installed in your device. If it’s not there, then you need to download SuperUser from the latest Google PLAY Store.
Tip: If the rooting doesn’t become successful, you again need to follow the instructions from the start.
